About Me

I am a thirtysomething professional working and living in the Boston area with a passion for baking and cooking.   I am mostly self taught, having taken one class on pie making.   Everything I have learned has been from trial and error.

I did not start baking, with the exception of break and bake cookies, until my mid-twenties when I discovered my enjoyment of all things made from flour, butter, and eggs. My life changed forever when my godmother gave me my first Kitchen Aid Mixer and my kitchen has not been the same since.  I am still growing as a baker and I am always looking for new ways to improve my skills and challenge myself.

I started this blog as a way to keep track of what I've made and to share tips and techniques with others.  I originally only posted about baking, but this blog has now grown to include general cooking posts.  I love sharing ideas for making a delicious, yet quick weeknight meals.  I work from 9-5 and when I get home after 6, like many others, I do not have time to spend another hour in the kitchen making dinner.

When I'm not in the kitchen I spend a lot of time running.  I took up running around the same time I started baking.  This was not a coincidence.  The desserts started to catch up with me and I needed to find away to stay healthy while indulging my love of anything made with butter. I ran the Boston Marathon with one of best friends in 2010.  As great as that experience was the training took a toll on my body and I now stick to shorter races, mostly 5Ks and 10Ks and the occasional half marathon.

I live with my husband Mr. Apron who is my full time taste tester and quality control consultant, and our dog Oliver T. Puppy and our two cats Bella and Ajax.  Bella is particularly fond of my frosting.
